This year has seen some wonderful successes in our sports club, more students playing sport on a Wednesday afternoon and University Championships in their respective sports which has seen UEL’s overall standing the BUCS ranking get into the top 60 out of over 140 institutions across the country. This is a fantastic achievement and not too late for anyone wanting to get involved regardless of your level. UELSports are providing a chance to play new sports and a great example is Lacrosse which is taking place in SportsDock on Monday nights at 6pm. Cup & Plate Run
Netball 1st defeated LSE 2ND in the semi-finals of the plate. This is a big step on their path to a potential league/plate double. The final will played on the 18/3/15 at SportsDock.
Men’s Tennis 1st carried on their unbeaten season with a comprehensive win over Brunel 1st in the Cup Semi Final. The final on the 18/3/15 will be the last chance for a university to prevent the team becoming the UEL Invincibles.
Women’s Tennis 1st followed on from winning their league by defeating Brighton 1st in a tricky away tie. A win in the final on the 18/3/15 will be the final tick on an unblemished season.
The Women have their last league game this Wednesday (vs Imperial) to wrap up the unbeaten season with only 1 set lost in all games. Looking forward to remaining fixtures of the Trophy Cup, where we are considered as favorites, and are looking forward to bringing a trophy to UEL. Also looking forward to playing among top teams in Premiership next year, most likely being the first women’s team in BUCS premiership ever at UEL.
Men are preparing towards the BUCS final 8’s in just under two weeks time (14-15 March), where they will be strong contenders to challenge for the title.
